Sore Throat (Children)

• Follow your child’s regular vaccination schedule.

• Educate your child on personal hygiene measures. Teach him the value of hand washing and be the first to set a good example.

• Avoid the child’s contact with patients. If you have a virus, take prophylactic measures. Wear a disposable mask and ventilate your living space daily.

• Take care of the child’s proper diet, with foods rich in vitamins and nutrients, avoiding various snacks and junk food.

• Keep cleaners, chemicals and caustic liquids out of the sight of children.

• If your children often get sick at daycare, consider stopping.

• If you smoke indoors, stop smoking as smoke is extremely irritating to children’s throats. Remember that your children are also passive smokers, with all the negative consequences for their health.

• If the child develops a sore throat in combination with difficulty breathing, high fever and lethargy, he must be examined by a pediatrician immediately.
